Asrini spent her days of living and studying in a charity house and graduated from vocational senior high school this year. Her father is a farmer who provides for the family. Asrini is the eldest child of three siblings who are still in elementary and middle school. She also has two step-siblings from another mother. Her dream is to improve her family’s economic condition by working. She never gave up her passion to learn new skills and she already has received training in a resort in Bali for four months, focusing on Food & Beverage Products. By joining Bali WISE, she hopes to gain more skills and experience to prepare herself for her future job life. Having the courage to live far away from home, she believes she can do more to enable a good life for her family.
Sunarti decided to live separately from her parents as she could not stand the daily quarrels between her parents. It was heartbreaking for her when she found out that her father was suffering from stroke and tuberculosis. Since then, her mother worked and tried to make a living for the family. Sunarti realized that she must work, to be able to continue her education. After she heard about Bali WISE, she was excited that there is a chance to pursue her dream of becoming a successful chef without having to pay high tuition fees. She learned that most of the Bali WISE alumni have become successful once they graduated. Taking them as role models, Sunarti now strives to upgrade her skills in both English and hospitality which will enable her to work in her dream department.
Ayu was born as the second child of freelance laborers who only earn money from seasonal jobs. Her mother produces wine crates with which Ayu always helped after coming home from school, and her father works as a cement checker in a harbor. After having graduated from vocational high school, Ayu realized that she cannot get higher level education due to the limited financial resources of her parents. However, she never gave up her hope to receive further education and joined Bali WISE to learn and get trained, and to eventually prove people wrong that despite being a woman, she can be more successful than men.
