On Friday, September 14, 2018 the Bali WISE students had a Shark Conservation Workshop. Students learned to discover what makes sharks unique and find out that, despite their bad reputation, they play a crucial role in keeping our ocean healthy. Besides, the students participated actively in the discussion and were appreciative about getting an opportunity to know and discuss many reasons why we should care about shark conservation and why shark is important to humans. The workshop gave to students the new insight about omitting the sharks from the food chain. The decreasing number of sharks may lead to increasing number of other fish predators and successive decrease of specific fish species. The girls gained the understanding to view sharks as part of the life cycle and take care of them.
