Cooking Class

Baking Class With Ms. Dee

February 6, 2019 By //  by roledmin Leave a Comment

Bali WISE Skills Education | Intake 39 – Week 5 | F&B Product | Monday, 4th February 2019 – Teacher: Ms. Dee

As part of their curriculum, Intake 39 is learning the Food & Beverages production in 5 stars hotel. Last Monday class, taught by Ms. Dee, is a direct cooking class where they learned how to bake banana cake and brownies. The skills taught by Ms. Dee is to enrich our student skills set for their vocational training at 5 stars hotel.

By being in F&B Product class, our student now have a good understanding of the kitchen department in a hotel and not only they learned how to bake, but they also learned how to pick the freshest ingredients and how to preserve them.

Different Cut, Have Different Name

January 29, 2019 By //  by roledmin Leave a Comment

Is it tenderloin or sirloin? Which one is belly bacon? All of that questions are today learning topic for Intake 39 Student. Ms. Lili, our F&B Product teacher, taught them different cuts of beef and pork. Some of our students are not aware of the English name for each cut and today is their chance to memorize it. Not only beef and pork, Ms. Lili, also taught them about the different types of spices and what are they used for.

For our students who are enrolling as a chef for their vocational training, these skills are very beneficial for them. Often times, living in a financially challenged area, our student didn’t even know that each beef and pork cut have different names and the spices that they know of are more likely introduced to them using their traditional language or Bahasa Indonesia by their family. To become a 5 stars hotel chef who will someday accept a Michelin Star (we hope!) they need to understand kitchen language better than anyone.
