Ni Luh Dea Ray Putri Pramesti

Dea was born in Pemuteran on January 31, 2001. She is the oldest child of 4. Two of her younger siblings are still in elementary school and the youngest one is still in kindergarten. Her father works as a truck driver, while her mother is a housewife. Her father often drive long distance routes to Java and sometimes comes home only once a week. Dea, who likes traditional dances, often gets offers to dance at hotels. Thanks to this experiences she get an insight into the world of hospitality and wants to learn more. She often participates in English language courses to practice her skills. Because according to her “English is important which can later be used in the world of work”. When Dea heard about Bali WISE from socialization at her school, she was very enthusiastic and wanted to join soon. Dea wants to get a good job to be able to support her parents and the education for her younger siblings.

Ni Wayan Nastri

Ni Wayan Nastri

Wayan Nastri comes from Karangasem, East Bali. Her parents are farmers with an income of approximately IDR 1.000,000 (approx. US $ 70) per month. Nastri had to face poverty at an early stage,when trying to save money for school costs was always an issue. She used to help weaving mats in order to be able to buy gasoline since the distance from home to school was quite far.

Fortunately,she received support from a foundation based in Karangasem which covered her school fees until she graduated from High school. She never complained about her economy situation, while all she ever dreamt of was being able to change her family’s life for the better. Bali WISE gives hope to her, that she will be able to realize her dreams and have a better future.

Siti Adinda Rahmadany

Siti Adinda Rahmadany

Known as Dinda, she was born in East Java as the second of four children. Dinda used to study at a university in West Java, unfortunately she had to stop in the third semester because of economic issues. As her father lost his job, Dinda’s parents decided to open a food stall and Dinda and her sister had to help her parents with selling the food. After finding out about the Bali WISE program, Dinda decided to join in order to seek knowledge and skills in the fiel of tourism and hospitality.

Ni Luh Putu Anjani

Ni Luh Putu Anjani

Known as Anjani, she was born in Karangasem, East Bali, as the first of three children. She is very passionate about dancing and singing. Her parents are labourers with an income of approximately IDR 500,000 (around US $ 35) per month. Anjani usually helps her mother to weavelontarmats, the money from selling the mats is then used for school expenses. Sometimes, she also helps her parents to find anima feed in the fields.

Anjani’s goal is to finally get a decent paid job to be able to help her family and provide better education to her little siblings. She decided to go to Bali WISE to get the Skills Educationin the field hospitality and tourism that will be the first stepping stone towards her brighter future.

Ni Wayan Elpi

Ni Wayan Elpi

Elpi was born in Tukad Tiis Karangasem, East Bali, as the first. Her parents are farmers and casually take on work as day labourers. Since 6th grade Elpi helped her mother weaving mats to save some money for continuing her education. Elpi also wanted to work as a maid to get money but she was not allowed to do so. Her mother wanted Elpi to continue her education, however the family was short on money to support her financially.

That is why Elpi chose to join Bali WISE, aiming to get a better paid job in the field of hospitality. In the future she hopes to get a decent salary which will enable her to financially support her parents and make them proud of her.
