Empowerment of women is recognized as an effective approach in bringing countries out of poverty. Currently women are often marginalized through poverty and lack of job skills. They are not able to reach their full potential or to make a contribution to their community and the nation. One way to empower women is through education.
The BaliWISE program started in 2012 with the goal of empowering marginalized and at-risk young women through skills education in hospitality. The six month scholarship program includes practical and classroom training, meals, uniforms, books, and dormitory housing. A small stipend allows them to send money home to their families so that they can continue their education.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, Bali WISE and My Red Envelope are presenting a fundraiser dedicated to the women of Indonesia who make a difference. The event will be held on 29 March, 2019 at the famous “W” Bali, Seminyak. This year’s theme is “Hats Off to Women” for the women of Indonesia who dedicate their time and effort to make positive change.
