Her nickname is Dayu. She is 18 years old from Jembrana, West Bali and the oldest from two siblings. Her father is a farmer and her mother is doing traditional crafting from Bali to contribute to the family income which is only around IDR 800.000 per month (approx. USD 58).
When Dayu was in senior high school, she helped her mother with traditional crafting to gain more money for her family. Dayu never imagined she could graduate from senior high school but she did. Nevertheless, after her graduation she could not continue her studies and and did not find any work either. Things changed when her nephew, herself a Bali WISE alumni, told Dayu about our program. Dayu was convinced that joining us will give her better chances for her future and provide her with the skills to better support her family.
