Ni Kadek Dewi Puspasari or called Dewi (18) is the second child of two siblings. Her sister is married and has her own family. Her mother works as a salesperson of household furniture with an income of approximately IDR1,500,000 per month, and she is the sole provider for the family after Dewi’s father died when she was still in elementary school.
Life has proven to be increasingly difficult since Dewi’s father died. Dewi’s mother was unable to keep up with the monthly payments of their house, and their family was evicted from their rented home in Dalung and moved into Dewi’s grandmother’s house. Dewi did what she can to help her mother out by selling fruits and random jobs, earning IDR10,000 which helped to purchase school supplies. BaliWISE visited Gurukula Bangli where Dewi attended high school and she decided to apply. She wants to gain more skills before starting her career in order to get a decent job to support her family and change her own future.
