Surianjani was born and grew up in the village of Bugbug, in the area of Karangasem Regency Bali. She is the second of three siblings. Her father makes a living as a ceremonial means seller with an income of only IDR 300-500.000 (around US $ 20-35) per month and her mother is a house wife. Her older sister hasn’t found work yet and her youngest sister is still in junior high school. Surianjani helped her father to sell Canang (the ceremonial means in Bali) from morning to noon each day before going to school. The challenging background left her with little perspectives for a better future.
Then she learned about Bali WISE from Carolia charity. By joining the six months skills education program she will be able to develop professional skills needed in order to then gain quality employment without further financially burdening her parents
