Hospitality has a broad spectrum. It is practiced and applied across various sectors of life, even in the smallest daily interactions. Within the hotel industry, hospitality serves as the vital cornerstone that drives every operation. This fundamental concept is essential for anyone choosing a career in this field, and it was precisely the message Courtyard Nusa Dua brought to the young women of Bali WISE Intake 67. On Thursday, October 15, 2026, three team members from Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua Resort hosted an engaging workshop with 29 basic level Bali WISE students in the campus classroom.

Hospitality and Hotel Life through Courtyard’s Perspective

Midday in the Bali WISE classroom, 29 Intake 67 students gathered with three staff members from Courtyard Nusa Dua. In that humble space, they met to explore the hospitality and hotel world in depth. After warm introductions, Ms. Tita, the HRD Manager, greeted the students and asked about their preferred departments for their future careers. The students responded enthusiastically, sharing their aspirations, while Ms. Tita addressed each choice with careful attention.

Next, Ms. Tuti posed a question asking the students for their personal definitions of hospitality. Several students answered with great enthusiasm, earning sweet chocolate rewards from the Courtyard team. Ms. Tuti appreciated every response and affirmed their perspectives. Broadly speaking, hospitality means warmth, friendliness, and a spirit of service. In our daily lives, we practice hospitality naturally. However, in the professional industry, hospitality becomes more structured, guided by distinct standards for each department.

Moving to the next discussion, Ms. Tuti explained what a hotel truly is. On paper, a hotel is simply a physical building containing various departments and facilities. Looking deeper, however, the real heart of a hotel lies in its people. Through the different departments and vital responsibilities carried by each staff member, the true essence of hospitality comes to life. A hotel is not just a grand, empty structure; it is brought to life by individuals fulfilling their roles and working together to maintain the spirit of service.

Industry Expectations and Rewarding Career Growth

Ms. Tuti then broke down the key expectations hotels hold for their team members. Every hotel operates with clear structures and strict standards, which naturally shape the expectations placed on each employee. These include discipline, a strong desire to learn new skills, seamless teamwork across departments, genuine care and attention, and above all, an excellent attitude.

She further explained what the hotel industry offers in return. Beyond expectations, hotels provide rich rewards for dedicated hospitality professionals. First and foremost is a clear career pathway, offering reachable milestones based on individual effort and merit. Students can also gain refined communication skills for guest and peer interactions, expanded professional networks, personal growth, and strong professionalism. These aspects are active benefits that every individual in hospitality can achieve.

To conclude the session, Ms. Tuti shared insights into Courtyard by Marriott, introducing its facilities, departments, service standards, and career opportunities. Speaking as an HR leader, she empowered these young women to ask questions, dream big, and pursue their hospitality goals. Even a small spark of inspiration can ignite a powerful passion within students as they build their futures. Through this workshop, we hope our students gain a deep understanding of hospitality, realize the true nature of the hotel industry, and begin shaping their career journeys with confidence.
