Catur is from Bali. She is the fourth of seven siblings. Her father worked as a farm laborer, while her mother is a housewife. Her parent’s income can only be used for meals, but she received a scholarship from school to help ease her parents’ burden. After graduating from high school, Catur was unable to continue her education to a higher level due to her family’s financial situation. Through her determination in creating a better life for the one she loved, Catur decided to join Bali WISE in October 2019 after hearing about the program from her sister. During her study, Catur showed promising results and on the fast path to success. Her humble and want to learn attitude has propelled her understanding of hospitality.

During her second semester at Bali WISE, Catur trained at Ungasan Clifftop for three months and worked as a waitress for five months after graduating from Bali WISE in April 2020. During those five months as a waitress, Catur never stopped trying to find employment abroad. Her goal is to become someone that can make her entire family proud and working abroad seems like a very good opportunity to achieve this. After a long search and not to mention during the pandemic, Catur finally found work abroad. She now works as a room attendant at a 5-star hotel in Jordan. Catur kept her promise to herself by transferring almost 80% of her salary back to her family in Bali. By doing so, Catur has improved her family’s economy and allowed her sibling to receive proper education.

Catur is a role model not just for Bali WISE students, but also for all of us.
