Disasters can happen at any time and everybody should be alert. As Bali WISE is located in a zone of disaster, this means that the students should be prepared for dealing with the possible disaster coming overhead.

Reducing Disaster’s Risk and Impact

In regards to this, Bali WISE conducted a disaster preparedness workshop. This workshop aims at providing sufficient information on how to prepare for earthquakes and tsunamis, and reduce the disasters’ risks and impacts.

The workshop involved all the Hospitality and Life Skill students and was delivered by Ms. Dwi, Bali WISE’s Education Officer. She explained what earthquakes and tsunamis are, what to do and not to do before and after the disasters occur, what items should be saved first, the assembly point, the evacuation route, and a simulation on how to deal with earthquakes and tsunamis.

Disaster Prevention Trial

As a result, the students successfully did the earthquake and tsunami mitigation, and gained new knowledge on what to prepare for before the disaster, and what to do and not to do before and after the disaster. By providing this workshop, it is great that the students can apply their cognitive and practical knowledge to the situation.
