As the 15 students of intake 60 progress through the first half of the Bali WISE program, they are now preparing for the next phase. In the second quarter, they will partake in vocational training in five-star hospitality establishments to gain hands-on experience in the industry. That is why, on February 6, the students participated in a workshop designed to teach them the essential skills for entering the job market. The session that took up all afternoon was divided into two parts: a career development class and a beauty class. They focused on helping the students build confidence and professionalism in both their skills and appearance.

Mastering the Job Hunt: Job Application Skills

The first session was led by Ms. Uchi and one of her team members from Paradisus by Meliá and ST projects. Step by step they helped the students on how to prepare themselves for future job applications. They learned how to create a CV and how to present themselves during interviews. Furthermore, they were taught the importance of attitude, body language and making a strong first impression. Through eager note-taking and practicing with each other, the students seemed to soak in the information well. Their new knowledge was tested at the end of the session through a quiz and when answering correctly the students received gifts -ranging from small practicalities to shoes-.

Confidence through Presentation: Professional Appearance

Following was the beauty session guided by professional make-up artists of OMG Make Up. The students learned how to dress to impress, how to apply appropriate makeup and how to enhance their professional appearance. At the end of the session, each student received a beauty package containing foundation, lipstick, mascara, and sunscreen to help them present their best selves in future job opportunities.

Empowering Women for Success in Hospitality

This workshop proved to be not only a valuable experience for the Bali WISE students, but also a fun one which they fondly reflected on in the days that followed. Providing them with practical skills and confidence is of such great importance as they prepare to join the workforce.
