October 11, 2019 By //  by roledmin Leave a Comment

Bali WISE Basic Education Class | Intake 41 – Week 12 | Ice Carving | Tue & Thu, 24th & 26th Sep 2019 – Teacher: Mr. Ketut Artist

As part of the curriculum students had an ice carving workshop with Mr. Ketut Artist the Master of ice carving, he holds the title of Best Carve Artist in Asia for five years.

The workshop was held at Zero Waste to Oceans – Community Environment & Skills Center.

Before the work started students taught about the theory, knowing the equipment and the function, also learned about how to make the sketch and the technique to make certain shapes. After getting a full explanation of the ice carving art, they were starting to practice.
The material is several blocks of ice, sized 120 x 80 cm divided into two parts and ready to be carved into a swan shape. To carve a block of ice into a beautiful swan, students sketch the swan on the ice block. Then the carving process is carried out on the part that is easily taken between the head, neck, and wings then proceed with carving to form 3 dimensions. After that, the work was continued by decorating the wings with a triangular tipped carver, to give the impression of arising in the form of a swan’s wing carve.

With great precision, this practice was to create the figure of the beautiful swans looks intact when viewed from every angle.
Our students are very excited to have a firsthand experience of ice carving skills.

Congratulations to all the students of Bali WISE you are fortunate because you get the opportunity to develop this art in you and reap the benefits in the future in your career.
