Meet Our Volunteer – YenTzu, Liu from Taiwan

January 31, 2018 By //  by roledmin 1 Comment

Hi peeps!

Meet YenTzu, Yen is volunteering with us for a month as an Education Coordinator and will also teach English and Mandarin. Yen is interested in the Bali WISE program because the purpose of Bali WISE is related to the issues in Taiwan.

According to Yen, there are lots of Indonesian workers in Taiwan. Most of them came to Taiwan because they wanted to help their family to earn more money. But during their time in Taiwan, it is really hard for them concerning language, religion, culture which are all very different. Being far away from home, many of them eventually end up doing some sort of 3D jobs (Dirty, Dangerous and Demanding).

Yen’s main idea is to help women in Indonesia, so they would get more skills and work in Indonesia. And that is exactly what Bali WISE is doing.

In her first week at Bali WISE, Yen has done two workshops and a few English lessons with our intake 35.

[Workshop1- Change the way you see the world]

Students drew their own maps that showed the world in their mind. This helped enhancing our students’ creativity and ease their minds.

[Workshop2- Mandarin]

With knowing some history and political background of the relation between Taiwan and China, students learned a few common words in traditional Chinese.

[English Class]

They followed their English workbook with additional materials, such as their first TED talk, conversation practicing, imagination challenge and lyrics training.
