On June 6th, 2025, Bali WISE held a fire prevention workshop for Intake 61 students. This is one of the most essential workshops in the program, as it provides students with important knowledge about how fires start, what causes them, and how to properly extinguish them, both traditionally and with modern tools. The session was led by Mr. Widi, a certified fire safety instructor who also owns a fire prevention shop. According to government regulations, anyone who runs such a shop must also be able to educate others e.g. schools, companies, etc. about fire safety.

Building Fire Safety Awareness Among Students

During the workshop, students were taught both theoretical knowledge and practical techniques. They learned why and how fires happen, as well as what to do in the event of a fire. Mr. Widi explained how to extinguish fires using traditional methods, such as a wet organic sack, and modern methods using fire extinguishers. Each student had the opportunity to practice putting out a fire using both techniques, gaining hands-on experience that boosted their safety preparedness.

Testing Student Response in Real Fire Situations

Before ending the workshop, Mr. Widi created a larger, controlled fire to test the students’ spontaneous response. Without waiting for instructions, the students acted quickly and correctly to extinguish the fire, showing that they had learned the training. Thank you, Mr. Widi, for your valuable contribution in educating Bali WISE Intake 61 students in such a crucial life skill.
