On November 20, 2025, Bali WISE students intake 63 participated in an engaging, hands-on barista training workshop hosted by Twenty Milli Coffee and Roastery. This practical session was specifically designed to introduce the students to the essential techniques of professional coffee preparation, equipping them with valuable skills for their future careers in the hospitality industry.

A Deep Dive into Coffee Sensory Science

The workshop kicked off with an in-depth session where students were actively engaged and introduced to the sensory richness of coffee through a comprehensive coffee cupping experience. This activity was specifically designed to refine their palate and deepen their appreciation for the complexities of different brews. Following this, students were seen to be actively engaged as they rotated through the roastery’s different stations, gaining foundational knowledge at every stage: they learned about coffee origins and processing methods, gained an understanding of how to roast and the impact of different roasting levels on the final flavor profile, and were introduced to essential barista tools.

Brewing Future Careers in Hospitality

By the end of the training, the students were equipped with knowledge and skills highly relevant for their upcoming placements in the hospitality industry. This workshop provided enhanced knowledge about coffee and specific barista techniques, inspiring them to consider this a valuable career option.
