Ulan is a determined and resilient young woman from a simple family in one of the regency in Bali. Born into a life of financial instability, her father worked as a farm laborer, and the family faced constant challenges.
Throughout her school years, Ulan faced numerous struggles. Simple things like buying shoes and a bag for school is something she could not afford. Despite the odds, she persevered, taking on odd jobs and working at the Ubud Palace to make ends meet. During harvest seasons, she became a sessional laborer, harvesting chili in other farmers gardens to earn additional pocket money.
Despite the hardships, Ulan’s determination led her to complete her education with the assistance she received from junior high school until she graduated from vocational school. After graduating she harbored her dreams of pursuing higher education due to her family’s financial situation. She decided to prioritize finding a job to support her family.
Fortunately, a classmate introduced her to the Bali WISE program. Completing the selection process, Ulan was happy to learn about hospitality, specifically focusing on Food and Beverage Services. This opportunity opened doors for her, leading to a training position at a prestigious five-star hotel in Nusa Dua.
During the three months of intensive training, Ulan gained valuable insights and practical experience in professional guest service. Her dedication and hard work paid off, and she received an offer to continue as a full-time employee at the hotel. This marked a turning point in Ulan’s life.
Now employed with a stable income, Ulan transformed her life and became a hope for her family. She contributes to her family’s economic well-being, and most importantly, she can help with her younger sibling’s school fees so that they don’t have to experience the hardships she experienced before. Ulan’s success is not just about personal achievement; it’s about creating a better future for her family. As long as we want to try, everything can change.
