Is it tenderloin or sirloin? Which one is belly bacon? All of that questions are today learning topic for Intake 39 Student. Ms. Lili, our F&B Product teacher, taught them different cuts of beef and pork. Some of our students are not aware of the English name for each cut and today is their chance to memorize it. Not only beef and pork, Ms. Lili, also taught them about the different types of spices and what are they used for.
For our students who are enrolling as a chef for their vocational training, these skills are very beneficial for them. Often times, living in a financially challenged area, our student didn’t even know that each beef and pork cut have different names and the spices that they know of are more likely introduced to them using their traditional language or Bahasa Indonesia by their family. To become a 5 stars hotel chef who will someday accept a Michelin Star (we hope!) they need to understand kitchen language better than anyone.
