Bali WISE New Year’s Reflection and Resolution

Reflection is part of growing up and improvement, and Bali WISE would like to look back at the lessons 2021 gave us, and our expectations in 2022. 

Looking Back on 2021

From a stammering time in reopening the program to slowly getting back up, 2021 will be a year we will never forget. Earlier in 2021, we were struggling with finding training placement with most of our Education Partners’ businesses closed. We also limited the number of students admitted to the program to minimize the risk of the virus spreading. In the middle of the year, we had to halt the program due to public restrictions. However, we also had nice things happen in 2021. We had some new education partners, Bali WISE program has developed a new curriculum and training subjects for the better, we did a recruitment visit to West Sumbawa, our trainees were well placed in our education partners businesses despite the difficult times, Pelita by Bali WISE has successfully completed 3 social projects, and we still managed to do monthly beach cleanup with Bali WISE students while implementing the health protocol.

Looking Forward on 2022

Let us learn from our struggle in 2021 and move forward to 2022. As we look to 2022, we have some projects and plans to improve the Bali WISE program. Here is the summary of what we are looking forward to.

  • Slowly returning to our previous batch period. In 2021, the new terms started not as scheduled due to the pandemic situation. This year, we plan to get back to our initial batch period and will only have 3 intakes in the result.
  • Conducting a hairdressing training for Bali WISE alumni, a collaborative project with Hairdressers without Borders, a partner NGO. 
  • Conducting social media and entrepreneurship training for Bali WISE students to widen and diversify economic opportunities once they graduate.
  • Pelita by Bali WISE new board members and their first project in 2022, which is to distribute solar bulbs to areas with no electricity access.

Finally, Happy New Year! Bali WISE would like to end 2021 with a grateful heart and welcome 2022 with aspirations, moments to cherish, and fruitful opportunities to come.
