Meet Ari, a young woman from one of the villages in Karangasem Regency. Unfortunately, her family struggled financially as her father worked simultaneously as a farmer and construction worker. As the second child of three siblings, Ari knew it was her responsibility to support her family. Luckily, Ari received a scholarship from a local NGO in Karangasem during her junior high school years.

Determined to succeed, Ari majored in hospitality during her vocational school years and joined an English extracurricular to improve her language skills. However, Ari faced challenges due to not having a motorbike to go to school. Thankfully, she could live in the NGO boarding house during her time in school.

After graduating from vocational school, Ari knew she wanted to further her education and enrolled in the Bali WISE program to improve her English skills and deepen her hospitality knowledge. Through the program, she had the opportunity to train in the Food and Beverage Product Department at a five-star hotel in Jimbaran for three months.

Now, Ari works at Alila Villas Uluwatu as a member of their Sustainability Lab. She is now able to support her family financially. With her hard-earned salary, she could also purchase a motorbike, making commuting to work easier.
