To prepare and protect the students from harassment that might happen in public spaces, Bali WISE conducted a self-defense class in ZeroWaste Center.

Women Facing Sexual Harassment

According to the statistics of Indonesian Komnas Perempuan (National Commission for Women) in their annual 2019 report, more than 3000 cases of sexual harassment in the workplace were reported. Sadly, women are the most vulnerable to sexual harassment, not only in the workplace but also in public spaces.

Self-Defense from Violent Attack

Young women are also vulnerable targets to sexual harassment perpetrators, both in the workplace and public spaces. To ensure the Bali WISE students master the basic self-defense technique, especially to protect themselves when experiencing violent sexual harassment, Bali WISE arrange a self-defense class every two weeks.

The session is conducted in ZeroWaste Center, supervised by a professional martial arts instructor. The instructor prepared the students with several harassment scenarios and how to handle them, to the case where the attacker is being violent.
