Beach Clean Up

Beach Clean Up to Open 2020!

January 13, 2020 By //  by roledmin Leave a Comment

Rainy season in Bali can be quite challenging, although it is a blessing for nature, on the beaches you will find a lot of trash that has been washed up by the heavy rains and storms. One part of the Bali WISE program is to go on a beach cleanup activity with R.O.L.E. Foundation. Arriving at the location, we noticed that the beach was on high tide, but we still found a lot of waste at the beach.

Together with Hilton Bali Resort, SD 2 Benoa and any other participants, we go along the beach with empty rice sacks to collect the wastes. We found many microplastics, ranging from styrofoam, beverage bottles, instant noodles, shampoo sachets, food packages, sandals, and used clothes that were either left by visitors or carried by the waves from the sea. 181,58 kg of garbage were collected that day.

After the activities, all participants were served by Hilton Bali Resort with some refreshments and drinks. We all had a good discussion about how to save the ocean by reducing the use of plastic in our daily routine. It is very delightful to see the clean beach.

Huge thanks to all participants for collaborating with us to take the action as a form of our concern for the environment and encouraging everyone to care more about the environment and waste management. We couldn’t have done this without all our incredible collaborators from teams, volunteers, and people like you!

Beach Clean Up and Independence Day Celebration

August 28, 2018 By //  by roledmin Leave a Comment

On Friday, August 17, 2018, Bali WISE students, R.O.LE & Bali WISE staff celebrated the Indonesian Independence Day by having the Beach Clean Up event.  Besides, there were also some waste warriors from schools and other volunteers who joined it. They were divided into two big groups in two different beaches: Geger Beach and Sri Lanka Beach. Each group started the cleaning at the same time and had the meeting point at Peninsula Island.

After having the beach clean up, they had the ceremony for Independence Day at CESC (Community & Environmental Skills Center).  The students and the staffs waved the Indonesia flag while singing Indonesia national anthem. Next, they held the competitions.  The students were divided into five groups and getting ready for some games provided. They had the great moments by sharing the happiness of celebrating the country’s freedom. This celebration was closed by giving the prize to the winner group.

Beach Clean-Up With Coca Cola!

January 22, 2018 By //  by roledmin Leave a Comment

Week 3 | Term 1, January 22nd 2018 | Bali WISE Skills Education

Hi Peeps! Did you see us last Saturday at Kedonganan Beach? As you know, Kedonganan is a fishing village that has massive waste issues, so Bali WISE and Coca Cola partnered up together to clean the beach! Plastic trash is all over the place and what was even crazier is that we found lots of medical needles! This is a disaster and we have to do something. Just beach clean-up won’t be enough, we need everyone to start separating their waste and recycle what they can. These issues will not only affect businesses, but also us as human beings.
